Hello all. What a day of contrasts….who would have thought how the weather would change so dramatically, so quickly. The Mens friendly against Bramshaw was called off at 9am because the 18th was under 3 inches of water but by 10am the rain abated and by 11.30 the 18th was ‘dry’ with the bonus that Hursley was open too as the Half Marathon had gone through.
For future reference, if the course is open, the Winter League is in play too.
The early starters at 11.45 got wet for an hour or so but come 12.45, the rain stopped and matches 4&5 had no rain at all, just the wind to contend with.
Now to the golf…….some really competitive games and the first whitewash going to the Over C’s, so commiserations to Fleetwood Macs who could only muster 6 players because of other commitments and the same with the Reformers, so hard luck guys.
3 teams were in with 3 wins and 15 match points but Hackers came 2nd by virtue of 1 extra bonus point over last years Champions, Mad Hatters.
Special mention for the biggest win of the day to our junior, Harvey Denham who won 7&6 in his singles , so beware this young man whoever meets him in future matches.
Regards
Ken
