Sunday saw the Culmination of the Winter League and a fantastic turn-out of about 110 golfers enjoyed near perfect conditions for the final round of the season.
Two separate competitions were in play on the day:-
Firstly, a standalone Finals Day competition with every team playing as many members as they could muster and the best seven scores counting for each team, and
Secondly, The overall Winter League where the results from Finals Day were added to the points achieved over the regular season to determine the overall Champions.
The scoring was generally in keeping with the weather and some remarkable performances were recorded but one that is worthy of mention was that of Peter Rybka who managed to achieve 45 points for his team the Fleetwood Macs and propelled the Macs into 3rd spot on the day.
The top two positions were decided by only Two points and went to teams that clearly carried some good form through from end of the season, The Reformers and the Reliants with The Reliants taking the honours and the trophy.
Congratulations to all three teams for terrific team performances.
The Finals Day results were as follows
With the Finals day Order Settled, the additional points were then added to the regular season total and with such a strong performance the Reliants were hot on the heels of the leading two, The Hackers and the Mad Hatters and with the Hackers stumbling a little at the final hurdle they drew level on points overall. This then means that bonus points need to be used to determine the final position and it was the Hackers who managed to cling on to second spot with the best bonus point score in the league.
This meant that the Mad Hatters did sufficient to retain their top spot and take the Overall Trophy for the second year running.
Congratulations to the Top Hatters !!
The Overall results were as follows with vouchers going to the top five teams
At the foot of the table, The Fleetwood Macs found their rhythm, The Eagles finally took flight and Norfolk n’Good cemented their position as the strongest team in the League taking the Wooden Spoon.
So that’s it for this season – just wanted to say “Thanks” to everyone for taking part throughout the season and for making this the great, fun competition that it has become ….
and a huge thankyou to this man for his part in that process…
See you all at the Club
