Spitfire Victory and Bridport Bowl O'50's Defeat

South Winchester men’s team last Sunday took victory in the 3-way Spitfire Trophy. After trailing in the league in 3rd place behind Test Valley and Dummer, SWGC were up against it going into the finals. With home advantage the team went out and aced the finals day, winning the day by a clear 20 points

This then took our overall points for the Finals day added to the total league points, giving us the trophy and crowned Overall Winners

Men’s over 50’s results update

On Friday 19th July the men’s over 50’s team hosted Isle of Purbeck in the 2nd leg of the quarter finals of the Bridport Bowl. South Winchester needed to win the match 4 to 1 win to ensure we progressed to the semi finals, unfortunately the heavens opened overnight and all day slowing our normally fast greens down to a sedate pace which actually favoured the opposition.

South got off to a good start by winning the 1st 2 matches but we came up just short of the objective and eventually lost the tie by two matches to three. Over the 2 legs of the quarter finals Isle of Purbeck ran out worthy winners by 6.5 to 3.5. We wish them the best of luck in the semi finals.

I’d like to thank all those members that gave up their time to play in the men’s over 50’s teams and the Annodata 1 team this year and hope to see you all again next Spring for the 2020 challenge….
