Dear Members

A slight delay to the match report for this fixture due to the fact that I had looked at the weather forecast and decided to leave the country for sunnier climes!

It appears to have been a good decision on my part as the Winter league lived up to its name with brutal weather conditions of heavy rain and strong winds making it impossible to use brollies. Thanks again to Ken who oversaw proceedings in my absence and has provided the following report…

In true winter league style everyone entered into the spirit of the competition but a majority called their matches by the 9th such was the ferocity of the weather.

Of those who ventured past the 9th, honours of the day for perseverance and doggedness go to Jane Fenner and Rob Atton playing to the 16th and to Jos Kerr and Ali Cheyne who went down to the wire playing the 18th to a waterlogged lower green but with the flag on the dryer upper level.  I’ll be checking what make of water proofs they use !!

So – Congratulations to everyone who braved the conditions and especially to Norfolk who took the honours on the day and to the Mad Hatters who took second place.

Regards

Kevin Watson, Winter League CEO
