Dear all, a fantastic weekend at Brockenhurst and our Junior Captain Joshua Mulcahy getting his Hampshire Mens 1st Team Call up, due to an injury to Tom Robson, a star studded lineup with Darren Wright X Tour Player, Martin Young Highest Ranking Amateur and Billy McKenzie England Player and Spanish Amateur Champion.
Josh was outstanding and played with pride and passion, he was up with Billy McKenzie, England player and Spanish Amateur Champion on the Saturday morning in the foursomes with Billy not on form and Josh stepping up to the mark playing some fantastic golf and some shots worthy of his place in the team, they took the match all the way to 18 after being 5 down but the damage was already done to early so loosing on the 18th. (The Channel Island Team thought Josh was the England Player)
Josh in the singles on Sunday started really strong and managed to hold his own and was 2 up after 4 but a strong comeback and back to back birdies brought the game back to all square, then came a tough break and Josh conceded 2 on the bounce, he stuck in but lost another going 3 down on 12, he then powered through halving 13 & 14 with birdie putts lipping out on both holes. He won 15 bringing it back to 2, then 16, the par 5 Josh on the edge of the green in 2 and thinking we’ve got this only for his opponent to come in an half the hole going dormy down 17. Unfortunately it was too late and they shook hand on 17.
A great weekend and some lessons learnt and very proud of our South Winchester Junior Captain Joshua Mulcahy who has a bright future ahead of him.
Hampshire take the win 9.5-2.5
