For the second weekend in a row the weather was kind to both the organisers and competitors. This time, 38 pairs of golfers were lucky to have almost perfect weather conditions for the time of year. The course was playing well and looking good even after heavy rainfall and morning frosts in preceding days.
The competition format can produce unexpected results. Good scores might not be enough if the timing is wrong but the cream tends to rise to the top and on this occasion, the knockout phase in the clubhouse produced a final between the teams of Brian Hallett/Paul Bright and Mario Peluso/Robert Seery which Brian and Paul won 2 and 1.
There is always a good atmosphere in the clubhouse whilst the “card” matches are played out, in part due to Neal Apps’ Cup draw arrangements, Neal rightly gets recognised for his efforts after every competition but a special mention here for the process which, for example, ensures that you can’t meet your playing partners unless you reach the final.
