Dear members
As I write, we have no real idea when we might be able to begin playing again and, consequently planning for whatever will remain of the golf season will have to wait. When we get the go ahead, we’ll see what we can fit into the time remaining. Nevertheless, there are a couple of things that we can be definite about.
Car Park Draw
The weekend of the 25th April would have seen the St. Georges Cup and Dinner, at which the Car Park draw would have taken place. For newer members, this is a raffle for a years’ worth of the use of each of the two reserved spaces nearest to the Clubhouse, all proceeds going to the Captains’ Charity.
There were some entries before the shutdown and more have been emailed since but the opportunity remains to enter and I would urge you to do so since charities are suffering a severe drop in funding at the moment. You can email your wish to purchase a ticket (or tickets) to either of the addresses below or you can make a payment to the account which is also detailed below (please quote your surname). Tickets are £5.00. The year’s parking space usage will begin once the course is reopened.
All of the entrant’s names will be put in the hat and the Lady Captain will draw the two winners on the 25th, we will try to ensure that the event is filmed and put on the website.
Summer Knockout Competitions
Since the lockdown looks likely to be extended by at least 3 weeks and we are unsure when the restrictions on golf will remain after that, we have concluded that the time remaining will be insufficient to play all of the rounds of the summer knockout competitions so these will not take place. Entrance monies will be refunded.
Unfortunately (fortunately?) I am told that the course is in excellent condition, I hope that we’ll all get to play on it in the not too distant future.
