Dear members,
The Valentines Cup was played on Sunday 10th February.
16 couples braved a wet and windy start to this annual competition.
Fortunately the weather improved over the course of the day and though still breezy ended in sunshine.
The format was American Greensomes with 2 joker holes where the scores were doubled.
Despite the weather some very good scores were recorded.
The winners with an amazing 52 points were Carol and David Cheyne; they were in the first group back to the club house so had an anxious wait to see whether they would maintain their lead until the end!
2nd with 45 points were Mel and Peter Williams
3rd with 43 points were Jane and Steve Parrett
4th with 40 points (on countback) were Sue and Barry Wilton
The prizes were a mixture of chocolates and fizz, with the winners receiving a voucher for The Ivy Brasserie in Winchester.
The first prize in this competition is always something really nice which makes up for the fact that part of the deal is that they have to organise next year’s competition! Good Luck Carol and David!
