Dear members and winter league players,

Our weather has been somewhat unpredictable this winter and it would appear that this week it really didn’t know what to do so the net result was, well…..everything  – from gale force winds pouring rain, a brief hail storm and of course – glorious sunshine!! Well done to all of your team members that braved and endured all that was thrown at them and also coming up with some very competitive matches.

The top four teams were pitted against each other this week and in the 1st v 3rd encounter, it was a case of “Honours Even” between Mad Hatters and Reliants. In the 2nd v 4th encounter it was the Hackers who took advantage and won three of their matches against fourth placed Norfolk n’Good to draw level on points at the top of the table…. but with Steve Lyons winning the 18th and therefore halving his match with Simon Hammond, they earned two more points to “Roar” back to the top of the table. This win also proved to be the best of the day so the Hackers take the vouchers and second place went to the Over C’s, who bounced back from a heavy defeat last time out with a 3-1 win over the Bogeymen and puts them right back in to the mix of the chasing pack.

Congratulations to these two teams who take the vouchers for the day.

Winners: Hackers : Each Receive £18 Voucher: Mark Neilson, Mary Saltrick, Paul Kille, Jane O’Hara, Steve Lyons & Rob Leach-Lewis

Runners-Up: Over C’s : Each Receive £12 Voucher: Lorna Berryman, James Evans, Carol Bradshaw, Andy Bradshaw, Lyndsay Dolphin & Carolyn Robinson

These results leave the Hackers and Hatters clear at the top but, elsewhere, there was the usual lack of respect for the form book and with three teams in the bottom half of the table all winning, the chasing pack is incredibly compressed. That one loss against the Hackers took Norfolk n’Good from 4th to 9th so with one more fixture to go there is still time for one more Shuffle of the Pack!

The next match is Sunday on the 17th March which is a reschedule of the Match 2 fixture and then straight into the FINALS DAY the week after on March 24th where, as we all know, anything can happen.

Best of Luck

Kevin
